A fun evening was had by all of the classmates who were able to go the The Rose on Saturday evening, April 16th. Delicious food and wonderful show by Nick Fiasco.

Local WMHS grads gather for a night of food and fun at Johnny's in Wilmerding...
Friday March 11th found local '65 WMHS grads looking for a fun evening to welcome Spring - even if Spring was not quite ready to make her debut!! Some of us arrived early enough to enjoy dinners, while others came later to listen to Johnny O spin a few hours of Oldies.
As always - it was great to see and chat with everyone - friends we knew and loved in high school, and friends we didn't know very well then, but are getting to know and love now. For those who couldn't make it, we hope you will try to join us next time. And if you don't live locally, but find yourself in the area sometimes, let us know -- we'll throw a special party/gathering just for YOU!! Any reason for a party!

1st ANNUAL SOUTHERN WMHS LUNCHEON - Feb 7, 2011
Well, o.k., we kind of made up the name of this get-together after it was planned, but it IS a good idea, don't you think? This lunch just kind of 'happened' -- as it were, Jackie Patsche Campen, and I discovered that we would both be in south FL at the same time and decided to get together. From there, we got the bright idea of seeing if anyone else from the class would be able to come as well. At one point we had over a dozen that had planned/hoped to come, but for one reason or another, most had to cancel.
Still, the 6 of us who got together at Joseph's Wine Bar & Cafe in Delray Beach had a lively time - we stayed for hours! In attendance were Jackie Patsche Campen and her husband Selden, and Nancy Bradley Tolk and her husband Verlin. From the class of 1967 we had Mike Condio -- (thanks to Nancy Brady Hill, who remembered that he lived close by and contacted him about the lunch). For any of you who went to Park Terrace Jr High, you will remember Mr. Condio, our principal. Mike brought his dad - Principal Condio - who just last year moved to Florida from PA. Principal Condio is as lively and fiesty as ever. Fortunately we all behaved ourselves and he did not need to bring out the Paddle!!
Next year we hope to do this again -- but we'll plan it on a weekend, and give more notice so that more people will have an opportunity to come. Actually, I think it is a good reason for all us 'cold weather' classmates to plan a trip to FL, don't you?!
As promised -- some pictures of our day --

WMHS & Oldies Cruise
Happy New Year! Better late than never, I guess - how did it get to be mid-February already??!
I am FINALLY getting on here to update you on some things going on - of course, I know of these because I was THERE! Remember that I would love to post some of your activities and experiences -- or even some pics or stories about everyday life in the 'Burgh or wherever you may find yourselves these days. Send them to me by email or letter.
Anyway - Verlin & I were fortunate to go on a cruise this January! Fellow classmate, Roberta Jefferson Sullivan sent me info on an Oldies Cruise that they had gone on the year before and had so much fun that they were going again this year. Even though her info about the cruise sat in my email inbox for weeks, I did finally look at it. When I did, I found that it looked fun and affordable, so I forwarded the info to Verlin's computer down the hall! Come on - confess! - how many of you email each other from one end of the house to the other?!!
Now that we have gone on the cruise, we too can tell you that it was SO MUCH FUN! We don't know yet when it will be next year, or where they will be cruising to, but if you would like to get information on it, let me know. Wouldn't it be AWESOME to have a group from our class go on the same cruise??!! OF COURSE, we came back with tons of pictures! Happily, I won't share all 500 of them with you!! But here are a few, mostly featuring Bobbi & me - we'd love to have YOU in the pictures next year - think about it!
The cruise this year was on Carnival, from Jan 16-Jan 23. It left & returned to Miami, FL. We stopped a day each in Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Belize, and Roatan.

Don & Tina Rasile come to town!
Don & Tina Rasile came to PA for a few days, so some of the 'locals' met up with them for an evening of food and laughter! The 'scene' was DeNunzio's in Monroeville - 6:30 pm on November 18, 2010.
For any of you classmates that live out of town - if you are going to be in the area, let us know, and we'll get the word out to all those in the area and meet up with you one evening. You won't regret it!!

John Magaw shares a special trip with us!
Listen to John's own words & pictures about his fascinating trip to England. We'll look forward to his next adventure -- and hope that the rest of you will share trips pictures, or just your day-to-day living with us!
John writes:
Last May I went to England with the aim of walking across the country following the path of Hadrian's Wall which marked the northernmost border of the Roman Empire. The wall ran from, using the modern names, the village of Bowness on Solway in the west to Wallsend which now is contained within Newcastle Upon Tyne in the East. I walked in the opposite direction starting at Tynemouth on the North Sea. Overall, counting a few side excursions (including getting lost a couple of times) the total walk came out to around 105 miles by my figures.
I've attached just three pictures from the main part of the walk. First is a view from across the Tyne Estuary of the ruined priory at Tynemouth Castle.
Second is from the middle of the walk; the general locality was around the village of Twice Brewed where I spent the night at the Saughy Rigg Farm B&B. Crag Lough and Highshields Crags are in the left-center of the picture. Hadrian's wall follows the top of the crags along this entire stretch for added protection from the Scottish in the north and can be seen clearly in the picture. There were some real ankle-breaking portions on this day following the ridge top of a series of crags.
The third and last picture is of St. Michael's Church in Bowness on Solway, a late Norman structure which conveniently was located between my final B&B on the walk and the village pub. The Kings Arms pub was a real treat and authentic in every way and I think that I enjoyed the grub and ale there as much as any meal in my life, or at least in 2010.
After the walk I took the bus and train to York to spend a day sightseeing before rushing by train back to Manchester ridiculously early on a Sunday morning to catch the flight home. Next year I'm considering a walk across Wales, or the length of the Great Glen in Scotland (or maybe around the ring of Kerry in Eire or the Cleveland Way in the Yorkshire Dales -- there are just too many choices!) When it comes to learning about a region there is no better way than to walk through it at your own pace.
Cheers,
John McGaw

Mon, Nov 8, 2010 - WMHS 'Girls' "DO LUNCH" !
It was a quickly planned, casual gathering of some 'local girls' from our class. We met in Monroeville, at DeNunzio's. Some of us had not seen each other since graduation from high school! Some of us never talked to each other in school, but couldn't shut up in our conversation all these years later! All in all, it was declared a huge success by all who were there.
Coming up next spring -- another "girls luncheon", this time on a Saturday, so that those who are working or busy otherwise during the week can join in. Also - stay tuned, GUYS, we are going to have a gathering that will include guys too!
Here are a few pictures that I took -- Bobbi Jefferson was snapping away on her camera too, so maybe soon we'll have some of her photos to share too. For those of you there -- it was great to see you. For all you who couldn't be there -- we missed you, and hope to see you soon.
